Later History

So obviously Webb paid for some work done at the mill but for what? We may never know.
The 1830 will of John Webb (senior) leaves all his estates to 'my son John Webb the younger, miller of the parish of Tilty'. So now his son is ensconed as miller at Tilty Watermill. Webb (jr) is listed as miller (and farmer) in the 1845 post office directory. In 1863 John Brand is listed as miller (he was also listed as miller at nearby Broxted wind mill as well at this time).
In 1870 George Smith is the listed miller and in 1874 Hofgaard Smith is miller and farmer.
He is still there when in 1894 he is listed as milling by steam and water-i.e. a steam engine to power the mill when water power was not sufficent.
1908-George Smith, 1912 Henry Percy Blyth, 1919-sale of mill by Maynard Easton Lodge Estate.
